PROJECT: Education Data Warehouse – EDW
An exciting opportunity to work with the State of Maine Department of Education!  This project will be enhancing an existing implementation using the latest Microsoft Business Intelligence Technology.  The focus of this project will be to improve the exposure of important Departmental data to the public.

•    Identify client’s needs and incorporate them into a BI solution.
•    Design, build, deploy and evolve BI implementations.
•    Develop Dashboards, Reports and Scoreboards based on architecture designs which support a robust solution taking into account the user and technical requirements.
•    Work with many sets of data in an undefined environment and suggest ways and methods of improving the efficiency of operations through BI.
•    Creation of documentation and standards for BI systems.
•    Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for BI front-end applications.
•    Assist with the production of ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.
•    Work with development, application and other data architects to provide an overall solution approach.
•    Deliver training and provide knowledge transfer to clients.

•    10+ years of IT professional experience.
•    5+ years of experience with deep understanding in databases and analytics, including relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle), data warehousing, big data (Hadoop, Spark), business intelligence (Reporting Services, Power BI, SSIS), NoSQL, and analytics.
•    3- 5 years proven hands on experience implementing new large scale BI/DW enterprise BI applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
•    Experience in customer facing roles and success leading deep technical architecture and design discussions with senior clients.  
•    Experience using and creating .NET applications and Web Services, document and share technical best practices for software development and testing.
•    Experience with performance considerations for data access.
•    Strong Data Warehouse methodologies and experience with data modeling.
•    Ability to coordinate with technical leads, business users and project managers.
•    Experience participating in development of standards and product recommendations.
•    Experience designing and architecting systems as a member of a design team.
•    Experience working through every phase of software development life cycle.
•    Strong verbal communication.
•    Technical BS degree, Computer Science or Math background highly desired.

•    Preference will be given to candidates who have a deep understanding and have implemented the Kimball Methodology in previous projects.
